To Qiemo

Ich bin heute nach Qiemo in der Provinz Xinjiang gefahren. Es gab viele Polizeikontrollen. Die Polizisten waren alle freundlich (Vielleicht mit Ausnahme der ersten Kontrolle als ich nach Xinjiang gekommen bin. Der Polizist war grimmiger.). Die Chinesen können ihren Personalausweis scannen. Für mich hingegen musste auf Papier oder am Computer ein Formular ausgefüllt werden. Das brauchte oft mehr als 30 Minuten (die erste Kontrolle hat eine Stunde gedauert). Insgesamt hat das meine Fahr um über 2.5 Stunden verlängert.
Vorher war ich auf dem Hochland von Tibet (Huantugou war 3000m), jetzt bin ich im Tarimbecken mit einer Höhe von ca. 1200m. Im Becken gibt es die Taklamakan Wüste und eine Anzahl von Oasenstädten nahe der Berge, wie Qiemo.

I went to Qiemo Town today, entering Xinjiang province. There were plenty of police controls. They were all friendly (maybe with the exception of the first one when entering Xinjiang, who was more fierce). While Chinese just scan their id card, for me a form had to be filled either on paper or on the computer. A process which often took more then 30 minutes (first control took an hour). Overall it lengthened my trip from Huatugou to Qiemo by at least 2.5 hours. Together with the low speed limits it made me arrive after 10pm.
Before I was in the Tibetan Plateau (Huantugou was 3000m), now I entered the Tarim Basin with a height of about 1200m. The basin is home to the Taklamakan Desert and a number of oasis towns like Qiemo near the mountains.

Interesting way of speed control: You get the paper at the beginning of the street and better not arrive before the designated time at the next station.
